FORT CARSON, Colo. - FORT CARSON, Colo. (April 25, 2022) Maj. Gen. Jeff Van, left, Joint Task Force Civil Support commanding general, discusses how JTF-CS works together with various state, local, and federal agencies to respond to a catastrophic manmade or natural disaster with Commander, Contingency Command Post 1, Task Force 51, U.S. Army North, Maj. Gen. William Prendergast, second from right, and exercise observer/controllers during Exercise Vibrant Response 22, April 25, 2022. The exercise is an annual, U.S. Army North-led chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear response enterprise command post exercise with approximately 350 active participants spanning April 25 to May 1. Joint Task Force Civil Support conducts CBRN response and all-hazards Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) operations in support of the lead federal agency in order to save lives, mitigate human suffering, and prevent further injury. Vibrant Response is an annual U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command directed Command Post Exercise planned in coordination with DoD, Department of Homeland Security, FEMA and other federal and state partners.
