AUSTIN, Texas - U.S. Army 1st Lt. Kelsey Shimanck and U.S. Army Spc. Dashawn Bandy, both assigned to the 546th Area Support Medical Company (ASMC), evaluate a simulated disaster victim during a medical decontamination line evolution at the Travis County Expo Center as part of Exercise Sudden Response (SR) 20. Military units comprising the Defense CBRN Response Force (DCRF) are participating in the exercise, which is taking place in Killeen, Austin and Ft. Hood, Texas, from Jan. 24-29. As part of the exercise, teams are rehearsing force and equipment employment, life-saving operations and web-based command and control collaborative tools to ensure their ability to execute Defense Support of Civil Authority (DSCA) missions. The DCRF is comprised of approximately 5,000 personnel from military units located throughout the nation who come together to help fellow Americans in the event of a CBRN disaster response.
