JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - As the oldest, youngest and senior-ranked members, Joint Task Force Civil Support Chief of Staff U.S. Marine Corps Col. Timothy Powledge (middle), U.S. Marine Corps SSgt. Jordan Freking (left) and U.S. Marine Corps Maj. (ret) Stan Bacon (right) cut the cake during the 244th Marine Corps birthday celebration. The cake-cutting ceremony signifies an annual renewal of each Marine’s commitment to the Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps’ commitment to our nation. The tradition of the youngest and oldest Marine cutting the cake signifies the passing of knowledge and experience from senior to junior.
