DETROIT, Mi. - Members of Joint Task Force Civil Support discuss the challenges of wearing personal protective equipment while operating within an urban environment during the 2018 DoD Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA)/Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Dense Urban Terrain Training Tactical Exercise Without Troops exercise held August 21-23 in Detroit Michigan. They were among some of the 150 participants from more than 50 organizations of the interagency, to include local, state, federal and international partners. The attendees had just ascended in a portion of a stairwell of a complex of seven interconnected skyscrapers that reaches over 80 stories located in downtown Detroit. This type of complex has been termed a “city within a city.” The training was held by the 46th Military Police Command, Michigan Army National Guard, Command and Control CBRN Response Element – Bravo and included other key training stops within the city landscape.
