CAMPT ATTERBURY, Ind. - Lt. Col. Ronald Chastain, Chief of Current Operations, Joint Task Force Civil Support, answers questions during a simulated press conference in exercise Vibrant Response 18 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, April 21, 2018. Units from more than 37 locations from throughout the U.S. will be training in the Vibrant Response scenario. Vibrant Response 18 uses a simulated Washington State environment and player training areas in central and southern Indiana, as well as areas in Washington State during the exercise. U.S. Army North executes the annual Vibrant Response consequence management exercise at the direction of U.S. Northern Command to confirm command and control elements of the nation’s CBRN response forces. U.S. Force Command’s linked exercise, Guardian Response, held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, validates how the subordinate units train to carry out the operations under the direction of a joint task force.
