Congressional Staffers Visit JTF-CS

Joint Task Force Civil Support

Congressional staffers got a look at response operations during a visit to Joint Task Force Civil Support May 30. Members of Senator Mark Warner’s (D-VA) staff, Caroline Wadhams, senior advisor on national security and VA affairs, and Zach Lewis, Defense legislative coordinator, received briefings on command operations in the unit’s air beam tent. The tent inflates using air compressors built into the structure for faster set up. Air Force Lt. Col. Ronald Chastain, Current Operations Division chief, briefed on Early Entry Command Post operations. Army Lt. Col Rahmin Norwood, Protection and CBRN Analysis chief, and Chris Sabo, geospatial analyst, briefed on the common operating picture and exercise operations. JTF-CS provides command and control for designated Department of Defense specialized response forces to assist local, state, federal and tribal partners in saving lives, preventing further injury, and providing critical support to enable community recovery.
