Chief Master Sergeant James L. Brown is the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Joint Task Force Civil Support and as such, manages the enlisted force and represents their interests at all levels. He serves as the personal advisor to the Commanding General on all issues regarding the professional development, readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines assigned to JTF-CS. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Joint Forces Headquarters, Kansas National Guard. Chief Brown served as the Chairman of the Air National Guard’s Enlisted Field Advisory Council and was a member of the Air Directorate Field Advisory Council and the Strategic Planning System Council representing 91,000 enlisted members.
Chief Brown entered the Air Force in 1985. He was assigned to Malmstrom AFB, Montana as a nuclear security specialist. He was transferred to Woensdrecht AFB, Netherlands then Wuesheim AFB, Germany where he served as a GLCM Nuclear Security Specialist. His military background includes numerous leadership roles at squadron, group, deployed command, Joint Forces Headquarters, and with the State Partnership Program. Chief Brown was mobilized in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM and SOUTHERN WATCH. Chief Brown is the recipient of numerous awards and decorations for leadership, distinctive accomplishments in support of Security Forces activities world-wide, and for joint civil-military operations. Command Chief Brown served as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Kansas City, KS Police Department and retired after 32 years in law enforcement as the Chief of Police of the Topeka Kansas Police Department.
