JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - As the oldest and youngest members, Joint Task Force Civil Support Command Surgeon U.S. Navy Capt. Bryan Schumacher (left) and U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Tyler Arentzen (right) cut the cake during the 244th Navy birthday celebration. The cake-cutting ceremony signifies an annual renewal of each Sailor’s commitment to the Navy, and the Navy’s commitment to our nation. The tradition of the youngest and oldest Sailors cutting the cake signifies the passing of knowledge and experience from senior to junior Sailors. The theme of this year’s celebration, “No Higher Honor,” originates from a quote by Lt. Cmdr. Robert Copeland, commanding officer of the World War II destroyer USS Samuel B. Roberts (DDE-413).
