New 377th TSC Commander Visits JTF-CS Headquarters

By JTF-CS Public Affairs Joint Task Force Civil Support

Maj. Gen. Greg Mosser, Commanding General of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), visited the Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) headquarters at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. Aug. 20.

During the visit, Mosser toured the facility and received a brief on the command’s mission and core capabilities, followed by a tour of the facilities with subject matter experts of each directorate. The purpose of the tour was to increase Mosser’s understanding of the JTF-CS mission to improve interoperability mission efficiency during future defense support of civil authorities (DSCA) operations.

“I knew before I set this meeting up that this was going to be an important meeting,” said Mosser. “After spending a few hours here, I realize how key this visit was to help gather information and awareness of how my new role as the 377th TSC commander will impact [JTF-CS’s] mission success, and how we can help each other.”

Mosser assumed command of the 377th TSC, which is based out of New Orleans, in July. The command consists of more than 35,000 Army Soldiers, 800 civilians and 460 units in 39 states across the United States and provides centralized mission command and coordination for operational level sustainment of active component forces responding to catastrophic homeland defense, DSCA and security cooperation operations in the U.S. Northern Command area of responsibility.

“I learned a lot during my short time here, and was able to identify some key takeaways to work on when I get back to New Orleans,” said Mosser.

When directed, JTF-CS is ready to respond in 24 hours to provide command and control of 5,200 federal military forces located at more than 36 locations throughout the nation in support of civil authority response operations to save lives, prevent further injury and provide critical support to enable community recovery.
